How to play

Run and jump across the rooftops, clearing the gaps between buildings.

Touch a lantern to light it. It reveals a piece of the map and saves your progress.

After a fall you return to the last lit lantern, so it pays to light every one on the way.
About the game
A platformer with one strong idea: light is a resource. A lit lantern reveals a piece of the level and becomes the point you come back to when something goes wrong.
The controls are deliberately short, run and jump, and the difficulty grows through the layout of the rooftops, not through extra buttons.
Who this game is for
For anyone who likes classic running and jumping but has no appetite for learning ten buttons. The controls are two moves, and the difficulty comes from how the rooftops are laid out, not from how many keys you press at once.
What the challenge is
The dark takes away your view a few steps ahead, so you partly jump into the unknown. Every lit lantern reveals a piece of the route and becomes the place you return to after a fall. It is tempting to run on without lighting anything, because it is faster. That is exactly the moment the game punishes haste.

No. Lantern Thief runs in the same browser tab you are reading now. There is no store download, no account and no e-mail to give. The game is free and stays free.
