How the ranking works and where the names come from

Points for doing, not for paying. Every round gives one point, a saved score five, the first visit of a day ten, and a streak of consecutive days grows up to thirty-five. Medals of the day — gold, silver and bronze for places on the daily board — add theirs after midnight. Posts, comments, reviews and hearts count towards the “community” stream, new followers and hearts under your own games towards the “creator” stream. The sum of the three streams is your rank: seventeen steps from Recruit to General, with thresholds from a hundred to two hundred and fifty thousand points. Points never go down; a day off only resets the streak.

Three tabs, three questions. “Rank” answers who has collected the most in total. “Community” shows those who write the most and give hearts most often — they keep the conversations alive. “Creators” ranks people who published games and have followers. Switch the list to ten, fifty or a hundred places; your row is highlighted and a change of position flashes the moment it happens.

A name like on Reddit. Nobody here is an anonymous “Player”. Everyone who saves a score or visits the portal gets a random name made of two English words and a number — a colour or a stone, a fruit or a sport: Amber Mango 42, Cobalt Tennis 7. The words are chosen so that they mean nothing bad in any popular language. The name is unique and has a fixed address, so it can be clicked on every board, in the community and here.

Your own name, in one place. Change your name in the profile or next to a leaderboard (“sign your score”). The server checks that nobody else has it — a taken name is refused, like a taken username on Reddit — and rewrites your previous scores to the new name. One account, one name across the whole portal: on the boards, on posts, in the ranking and on the player page.

The player page. Under the name stands a page with the rank, the day streak, scores in every game with the place taken, medals and community posts. Whoever is also a creator has a creator badge next to the name leading to their page with games. Pages without content — no scores and no posts — exist but do not ask the search engine for a place in the results; profiles with at least two games, a post or a hundred points do appear there.

What is public and what is not. Public are the name, the rank, the points, the streak, the scores and the medals — exactly what the boards show. There is no e-mail address, no device identifier and nothing you did not type yourself. Everything stored under your device you delete in one click in the rank window (“Delete this device's data”); the account is deleted in the profile settings. The privacy policy describes the rules.
