How to play 8-Ball Pool

On a computer: Move the mouse to aim the cue. Hold the left mouse button, or use Space and the slider, to strike the cue ball.

On a phone: Slide your finger to aim the cue. Drag the power slider at the side or pull the cue back to strike.
About 8-Ball Pool
The game runs in the browser in a violet and gold pool hall, with nothing to download. A match takes about three to five minutes.
How to play 8-ball
The balls start in a triangle: solids numbered 1 to 7, stripes numbered 9 to 15 and the black 8 in the middle. After the break the table is open, and the first ball you legally pot decides your group. Pot one of your balls and you shoot again; miss and the turn passes. Once all seven of your balls are down, sink the 8-ball to win the match. Pot the 8 too early, or together with a foul, and the match goes to your opponent. Sink the 8 on the break and you win on the spot.
Fouls and ball in hand
The game calls fouls the way pool players expect: the cue ball drops into a pocket, the cue ball misses every ball, the first ball you touch belongs to the other group, you hit the 8 first while the table is still open, or no ball reaches a cushion after contact and nothing is potted. After a foul your opponent gets ball in hand and may place the cue ball anywhere on the table.
Four ways to play
Play with a friend on one device, passing it after every turn, take on the computer at Easy, Medium or Master level, or open an online room and play another person turn by turn. Practice mode lets you train shots alone.
Aiming, power and physics
An aim line and a ghost ball show where the cue ball will meet the object ball and which way that ball will travel, so you can plan cuts, bank shots and safeties. Balls collide and bounce off the cushions realistically, visibly roll across the cloth and get pulled into the six pockets.
Controls on phone and computer
On a phone, touch the screen and drag to aim, then use the power slider at the side or pull the cue back to shoot. Turn the phone sideways for the best view of the table. On a computer, aim with the mouse and shoot by holding the left button, or set the slider and press Space.
Diamonds and table styles
Every finished match adds 150 diamonds. Spend them in the shop on six table styles, from the free Classic Emerald through Royal Blue, Midnight Violet, Crimson Velvet and Carbon Onyx up to Golden VIP for 2000 diamonds.
