About Sea Battle
The grid is ten by ten and each side gets a fleet of ten ships: one ship of four squares, two of three, three of two and four single boats. Ships may not touch, not even at a corner, so placing your fleet is already a small puzzle. The game suggests a layout and you can ask for a new one as many times as you like until it looks hard to find.
The rules are the same as on squared paper at school. You take turns choosing a square to aim at on the enemy grid. A miss leaves a dot, a hit lights up the water, and when a ship goes down the squares around it are marked for you, because nothing else can stand there. The first player to sink the whole enemy fleet wins.
There are three ways to play. Against the computer, which searches in a checkerboard pattern and, after a hit, finishes the ship along its line, so it is wise to avoid obvious shapes. With a friend on one phone or computer, placing fleets in turn and passing the device. Or online by link: send the link, the server keeps track of whose turn it is, and the battle comes back after a page refresh or on another device.
The game counts your shots, remembers your best result and sends the best games to the daily klyo leaderboard. You play by touch, mouse or keyboard, and Esc pauses. The board fits a phone, a tablet and a large monitor, and the light or dark look follows your system settings. A battle usually takes five to ten minutes, which makes it a good choice for a short break or an evening with someone next to you.
