You win by crossing the line first, and you get there by ramming rivals off the road, taking jumps flat out and smashing everything at the side of the track, because every hit fills your nitro.

How to play STUNTOUT

A race lasts three laps against four to seven rivals and takes about three to five minutes. Hold the gas, steer into the corners and keep the handbrake for tight turns. When the nitro bar is full, fire it on a straight or right before a jump. Ram a rival from the side to spin the car out, but watch your own car: panels bend, parts fall off and a wrecked car smokes from the hood. If you get stuck, the rescue button puts you back on the road.

Tracks: farm, Warsaw, the valley and the mountains

The Farm is a dirt road between fields, barns and wooden fences that turns both ways, with S-bends, a tight hairpin and jumps over the hills. Warsaw is a street race through real city blocks with barriers, bus stops, kiosks and street lamps you can knock down, and crowds behind the barriers. The Valley is a fast gravel track between wooded hills with signs, straw bales and a judges tower. The Mountains are a real mountain pass: you climb the slope through left and right hairpins with concrete walls on the outside, cross the top and race down a ridge to a big jump over a drop. Every track can be driven by day or at night under the street lamps and headlights.

Long jump stunt and the garage

Besides racing there is a stunt event inspired by classic demolition games: you speed down the start straight toward a ramp and at the right moment launch the driver through the windscreen. Distance counts from the edge of the ramp to the first touch of the ground, you get three tries and the best one goes into your record. Coins from races and stunts go to the garage, where you upgrade engine power, nitro, armour and tyres and pick one of eight paint jobs.

Online races

Press race and the game looks for an online room by itself. Real players take the places of bots, so a race is always full, and if someone leaves, a bot takes over that car. Without a connection you simply race against the bots.

Tips for beginners

Brake before the corner, not in it, and accelerate out of it. Save nitro for the long straight after the last jump. Smash fences on the outside of corners to keep the bar full. In the long jump, launch just after the lip of the ramp, not before it.
