About Color Minefield
The rules
Every row, every column and every color hides exactly one mine, and no two mines touch, not even diagonally. If you know Minesweeper or Queens puzzles, the idea will feel familiar, but there are no numbers to read. Every board can be solved by logic, so you never have to guess.
Lives, mistakes and winning
You have three lives. Clear a square that hides a mine and the game ends at once. Flag a safe square and you lose a life; lose all three and the board is over. When the eighth mine is flagged, the rest of the board clears itself and you win. Finish with all three lives left for a Flawless victory.
Daily puzzle and Arena
The daily puzzle is the same board for everyone on that day. Your progress is saved, so you can leave and continue later, and every solved daily adds a day to your streak. The Arena gives you a new random board whenever you like. The home screen counts boards played, wins and Flawless finishes. After a board you can share your result with the date, the hearts you kept and your time.
Hints and the first board
Stuck? A hint costs one life and is only available while you have more than one. It never gives away the answer: it lights up a row, a column, a color or a single square and asks a question, such as where this color's mine can go. On your first visit a short guided board on a 5x5 grid teaches the rules step by step, and mistakes there are free.
Tips for solving
Start with colors that cover only a few squares, because their mine has few places to go. Each time you flag a mine, clear every square around it, then the rest of its row, its column and its color. When a whole color fits inside one row or one column, the mine of that line sits in the color, so every other square of the line is safe.
Controls and looks
On a phone, tap a square to clear it and double-tap to flag a mine. On a computer, click to clear and double-click to flag. Pick one of three looks, Flat, Pixel or Candy, each with its own sounds, and mute the sound with one button. The text inside the game is in English.
