How to play Klondike Solitaire

The tableau has seven columns. Build descending sequences in alternating colours: red on black and black on red. Uncover face down cards to bring them into play. Build the four foundations separately by suit, starting with aces and ending with kings. You win when every card reaches a foundation.

An empty column accepts a king or an ordered sequence starting with a king. Draw from the remaining stock when you need more options. Before cycling through it, check whether a move on the tableau would uncover another card.

Draw one or draw three?

Draw one gives direct access to each card as it appears and is a useful starting point. In draw three, you can play the top card of the exposed group, so the order of your moves matters more. Choose a different variant when starting a new game.

Hints, undo and the daily deal

Use Hint when you need another idea and Undo to explore a different route. The daily deal provides another layout to play. The game saves unfinished play and statistics so you can return to your progress. When Finish becomes available, it moves the remaining cards onto the foundations.

Tips for a stronger solitaire strategy

Consider moves that uncover face down cards first. Before sending a low card to a foundation, check whether it is still useful for moving another sequence. Avoid emptying a column without a plan for the king that will fill it. Undo can help you compare two options that uncover different columns.

Phone and computer controls

Drag a card or an ordered sequence with your finger or mouse. Tapping a card sends it to a suitable destination. The controls beside the table open the menu, start another deal, undo a move or show a hint. You can place the stock on the side you prefer.

Card sounds, music and table designs

Separate Sounds and Music buttons stay available during play. Keep card effects while muting the music, or choose music alone. The game remembers each preference. Animations show cards moving and turning over, while your device's reduced motion preference limits effects.
