Bridge card game rules

Four players in two pairs, 13 cards each. First comes the auction: in turn you call a bid, a level from 1 to 7 and a suit (♣ ♦ ♥ ♠ or no trumps), pass, double or redouble. The level is tricks above six, so 4♥ means ten tricks with hearts as trumps. The declarer is the player of the pair who first named the contract suit, and after the opening lead the partner lays the hand face up as dummy. You must follow suit, and the highest trump or the highest card of the suit led wins the trick.

How to play bridge: bidding for beginners

Count points: ace 4, king 3, queen 2, jack 1. With 12 or more open your longest suit, with a balanced 15 to 17 open 1NT. When your partner opens and you have at least 6 points, answer: raise with a fit, otherwise bid a new suit or no trumps. 25 points together is a chance for game, 33 for a slam. In learning mode a coach helps with every call, and the bidding box lights the call a master would choose.

Bridge scoring

Scoring follows duplicate bridge: clubs and diamonds 20 a trick, hearts and spades 30, no trumps 40 for the first and 30 after. A contract worth 100 or more is game with a bonus of 300, or 500 when vulnerable; small and grand slams earn big bonuses, and going down scores for the defenders. Vulnerability changes every deal as in a club.

Play bridge against the computer or online

A short match has four deals, a full match eight. Daily deals are the same for every player, so you can compare scores. Online you play in a Klyo room: the server deals, keeps the rules and plays bots on empty seats. Matches you win count in the klyo ranking.

Play on phone and computer

Tap a card to play it, and when you declare you tap dummy's cards on the table too. You bid in a clear bidding box that shows the whole auction.
