About Scorpion Solitaire

Play Scorpion Solitaire free online, instantly in your browser and with nothing to download, on a phone, tablet or computer. A warm wooden table, large readable cards and calm music make a game of 5 to 15 minutes a relaxing break.

Scorpion Solitaire rules

The deck has 52 cards. Seven columns of seven cards lie on the table and three cards wait in the reserve. In classic mode the bottom three cards of the first four columns are face down. You may only place a card on the next higher card of the same suit, for example the 7 of hearts on the 8 of hearts. The big difference from other solitaire games: you can pick up any face-up card together with everything on top of it, even if those cards are not in order. Only a king may go into an empty column. When you complete a run from king to ace in one suit, it leaves the table by itself. You win when all four are gone.

The reserve and face-down cards

You deal the three reserve cards with a single tap whenever you like, and they land on the first three columns. You can do this only once, so use the moves on the table first. A face-down card turns over by itself once you clear everything on top of it.

Classic mode, open mode and the daily deal

Classic mode keeps twelve cards face down, as in the original, and scores one and a half times more points. If you want an easier game, pick open mode: every card is visible from the first move, so you can plan the whole game. The daily deal is the same for every player and changes each day, and the game counts how many days in a row you have solved it. Every deal from the table was played beforehand by a solver that found a win, so if you get stuck it is the route you chose, not the cards. In the settings you can switch to fully random deals.

Scorpion compared with Spider Solitaire

Scorpion looks like Spider because you also build runs from king to ace, but it plays very differently. In Spider you only move ordered runs of one suit and may place cards on any suit. In Scorpion every card has exactly one home, the next higher card of its own suit, but you can carry the whole pile sitting on it. That makes Scorpion feel more like a puzzle: think about what each move will uncover.

Scorpion Solitaire strategy

Uncover the face-down cards in the first four columns early. Look for kings buried deep in a column, because each one needs an empty column or must stay at the bottom. Do not rush the reserve: before dealing it, check whether a reserve card could block a suit you need. When two kings wait for one empty column, move the one that uncovers more. The hint thinks a few moves ahead, but it only uses cards you can see.

Hints, undo and comfortable controls

Tap a card and it goes to its place by itself, or drag it with your finger or mouse. Undo and Hint sit right on the table, and when the game knows a sure way to the end, a gold Finish button appears. If a move is not allowed, the game tells you why, for example that only a king may go into an empty column. An unfinished game saves itself, and statistics, streaks and records follow you between devices. Wins unlock new card backs and tables, there are light and dark themes and a four-colour deck for small screens. The game speaks 10 languages.
