Clubs, teams and schools
How clubs work
A club is a permanent team on Klyo Games: a group of friends, a games club or a school, for example a chess school or a checkers club. Every club has its own page with a crest, a description, a city and links to its social media profiles, and new members join with one click from an invitation link. A club plays every tournament game: Makao, checkers, backgammon and dominoes, and more games join as soon as the server learns to check their moves.
Every tournament on Klyo also keeps a club standing. Players sign up as usual and play for themselves, and the matches they win count for their club. Only played matches of the four best members count, so a walkover earns nothing, and a bigger club has reserves but cannot win by numbers alone. The best club of the tournament gets the club trophy.
The captain and coaches can create members-only tournaments, for example a weekly school tournament. Such a tournament stays off the public list, and parents and friends can watch the matches live, with cards visible to viewers and a delay that keeps anyone from helping the players.
Schools and clubs can ask for verification: once checked, the page gets a badge, and the ranking shows the best clubs in each country and in the world. Taking part is free and needs no installation, only a browser on a computer or a phone.
