About the game
Mining a cubic metre of stone gives you 2.6 tonnes of stone, and a block of gold weighs 19.3 tonnes, so hauling material is a real decision. The production chain follows real processes: coal is coked into coke and tar, tar becomes carbon black, iron ore and coke are smelted into steel, sulfur turns into sulfuric acid, galena is smelted into lead, and rubber comes from latex tapped from rubber trees in the jungle. In the part designer you set real dimensions, for example a 205/55 R16 tyre, and the game works out the mass, the motor power from its weight and the battery capacity in kilowatt hours. Build a chassis, four wheels, a motor, a lead acid battery and a seat, then sit down and drive; grip, air drag and rolling resistance decide how fast you go and how far you get on one charge. You also get hungry, so you pick fruit in the jungle and dry it over a campfire, because dried fruit carries three times more energy per kilogram. A session takes a few minutes or a whole evening, and the world saves itself.
